Election Results for the 2021 - 22 academic year
My name is Dylan Turner. I am a student finishing my master’s degree in Ethics and Applied Philosophy and will be starting the PhD program in Geography here at UNC Charlotte in the fall. I am running for the office of president because I am eager to serve graduate students here at UNCC. As a Graduate Life Fellow and president of the graduate student organization, The Philosophical Union, I have been in the fortunate position to meet and connect with students as a leader within our graduate community, and I hope to continue such work as GPSG president. I would be an enthusiastic advocate for graduate students. I intend to listen to my fellow students to learn what their needs are so that I can best represent them in public spaces and in meetings with administrators.
Vice President Elect
I love people, serving others, and academia. The Vice-President position provides a unique platform for me to contribute to the graduate program at UNCC and serve as a representative for graduate and professional students. In conjunction with the other elected members of the board and committees, I will work on improving the graduate experience by fostering cordial interaction amongst the different disciplines, cultures, and nationalities represented under the student body.
I am Timi, a Nigerian in my second year of my doctoral studies at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am currently running for the position of GPSG treasurer. If elected: I will be committed to improving the existing fund application processes to support other graduate organizations and to ensure more students are given aid to attend conferences and journal presentations. While I strongly believe in a balanced budget, I also believe that the organization should ensure that graduate students and organizations are supported appropriately, according to the laws. I will make sure every student is well informed on the funding requirements. Reasons for non-selection will also be communicated effectively. I will also work on gathering a strong financial committee made up of members who are committed to the goals of GPSG and helping graduate students to live a successful and well-rounded life. Inclusion will also be a priority for me, my financial committee members will be diverse: different cultural and academic backgrounds, this will help generate fresh ideas. Finally, I will collaborate with the different senators to see how the treasury office can better help their respective organizations.
